Global Style: Our Ultimate Fashion Map

BARCELONA, SPAIN

Born in Barcelona, Carla of The Sweetest One Over the Moon originally created her blog to feature her jewelry line, but has since expanded it. Now her website is chock full of weekly outfit posts and fun DIYs (we really love her how-to for making your own leopard booties). A girl after our own hearts, she’s a self-described lover of fashion, makeup, photography, and cupcakes.

Hottest fashion trends right now:

Brocades and animal prints.

Popular places to shop:

Without a doubt, ZARA. Other popular Spanish stores are Mango, Uterque, and Massimo Dutti.

One beauty product I wouldn’t leave home without:

Since Barcelona is always sunny, I wouldn’t dare leave home without a bottle of SPF 50.

Three fashion/beauty items every tourist should bring:

1. Sunblock. I always see tourists looking like lobsters, even in the winter.

2. One nice, trendy outfit for going out and getting dressed up.

3. Comfortable but cute walking shoes. Ballerina flats are always a nice option.

If you have one day in my city, don’t miss:

You have to check out the gothic Barcelona Cathedral, and then take a walk down the scenic Las Ramblas street. Grab a bite to eat at La Barceloneta, which is known for their delicious paella and beautiful beach views.

City’s signature yummy food/drink:

A nice glass of Cava (Spanish sparkling wine) and tapas.

What I love most about my city:

I love that it is becoming more cosmopolitan.

My city’s style in one sentence:

We have a conservative but elegant style.
