Catalina is just off the coast of Southern California, but even locals often forget its existence. You can get there via short boat rides (from Long Beach, Newport Beach, or Huntington Beach) or plane or helicopter if you’re feeling swanky. Once there, you won’t believe how far removed from Los Angeles you’ll feel, it truly is its own little world. You can snorkel, hike, or just wander around the town (there are plenty of great restaurants and bars to keep you busy there).
