When Quirk heard about the maxi dress, she suggested choosing a maxi dress that’s more muted in palette rather than one that’s super summery. She recommended adding a pair of rugged boots, a belt, a utility jacket or a jean jacket, along with a fall-ish scarf.

Sharon is already very fashionable, so she brought a different feel to this fall look. Instead of rugged boots, Sharon matched the dress with a high heel bootie, in dark gray wool. She did add a brown belt, like Quirk suggested, but instead of a utility jacket, Sharon brought in a long menswear blazer. A brightly colored scarf gives this outfit a much-needed pop.

Quirk’s look is more relaxed, while Sharon’s is more work/happy hour appropriate. But either way you transform your maxi, you can still wear it long after the temperature has begun to dip.
