Vegas, Cancun, Myrtle Beach -- they've been done. Think beyond spring break and try one of these trips instead
Catalina is just off the coast of Southern California, but even locals often forget its existence. You can get there via short boat rides (from Long Beach, Newport Beach, or Huntington Beach) or plane or helicopter if you're feeling swanky. Once there, you won't believe how far removed from Los Angeles you'll feel, it truly is its own little world. You can snorkel, hike, or just wander around the town (there are plenty of great restaurants and bars to keep you busy there). If you want more than a day trip you can either camp on the island or stay in a hotel. For more info, check out the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce website.
What to pack: The island is pretty casual and sort of has a retro, Old-Hollywood vibe, so dress the part with an outfit like this Pins and Needles Rosette Cropped Tank Top, $39, and Isobel Scalloped Shorts, $38.
