Quiz: What's Your Body Type?

If you've ever been confused about what shape your body is (join the club), you'll finally be able to find out with this helpful quiz

Let me guess -- you're sick of people calling you hourglass, apple or pear-shaped when you have no idea what that even means.

I totally feel the same way. First of all, comparing me to a fruit? Really? Second of all, I've had multiple people come up to me in the same day and tell me I was a variety of different shapes. Tell me it's not possible to be two shapes (fruit or not) at once.

In order to find out -- once and for all -- what my body shape really is, I talked to Stephanie Prommer, fashion editor and stylist, and Aly Scott, founder of StyleChic, to settle this frustration of trying to figure out your body type.

Contrary to what you probably thought, your body shape has little to do with how tall or short you are. That's because there are many different combinations of height and shape. For example, Scott says she has "clients who are categorized as a round body shape, but they range from being short to large," Scott says. And "you can be petite and very proportional, or petite and pear-shaped, for example," Prommer says. Wow. No wonder people were so confused.

Well, our experts are here to help you figure out where you fall within the five main body shapes: ruler, hourglass, pear, cone or apple. By taking this quiz, you'll understand what shape you are and why. You'll also see which popular celebrities match your exact result, and you'll even get expert tips on how to dress your body type.

So what are you waiting for? Answer the first question below to begin.

Pam Forte Day (Tue, 29 Mar 2011 12:06:26 -0700): the first set of questions assumes you like any part of your body. I don't think I have any of the attributes listed. How the heck do I answer this? STUPID way to begin.
Ann McDonald (Mon, 27 Feb 2012 00:15:04 -0800): That's really a shame that your self-image is so negative. Work on discovering your inner beauty and you will radiate on the outside. Blessings...

Rebeca Soto Molinari (Thu, 31 Mar 2011 20:28:48 -0700): not a good quiz! my body attributes were not listed! so my "pear figure"... it's bullshet! :P
Sarah Rivers (Sat, 02 Apr 2011 10:37:31 -0700): Sorry--your quiz doesn't help. The only "apple" in this room is my IMAC!
Amy Breiling (Sun, 03 Apr 2011 08:49:00 -0700): Yeah, pretty stupid. They called me pear shape, but just because I have small boobs, but I have very broad shoulders. What body type is that?
Vivianna Hansen (Tue, 26 Jul 2011 11:18:03 -0700): pear...
Ann McDonald (Sun, 16 Oct 2011 09:04:03 -0700): cone, broader on top and a bit narrower in the hips and thighs. This is my body type although I feel I look more hourglass without being real super curvey
Kristen Dawn Starr (Sun, 26 Feb 2012 23:33:57 -0800): well i think triangle shaped or a cone shape depending if you have big thighs and hips.
Amy Breiling (Mon, 27 Feb 2012 07:13:41 -0800): I do have big thighs and hips...in fact, my hips are as wide as my shoulders.
Kitty Marie Carbrey (Sun, 12 Aug 2012 16:59:42 -0700): Inverted triangles usually have very broad shoulders.
Kelsey Tweedy (Tue, 02 Oct 2012 13:14:31 -0700): I have the same shape :P (im also still a teen though and growing into mine)
Dawn Maxwell Nicholson (Tue, 05 Apr 2011 09:19:02 -0700): OMG so I'm a Apple! yeah maybe after someone has eaten it, cheers for making me feel great.
Melissa Nicholson (Tue, 05 Apr 2011 09:20:45 -0700): yeah mum you apple.

Madison Cockrum (Tue, 10 May 2011 19:14:07 -0700): ummm, I got apple, and I'm skinny as can be... just because I have a little bit of a muffin top doesn't mean I'm fat... I'm a little offended. LOL
Nadia Hamed (Thu, 09 Jun 2011 15:40:31 -0700): I refer to my body type as 'stick insect' it's not desirable, it's just what I have got :d seems like my type doesn't exist in their classification [the first time I took the test they had me as an apple - I have no idea how that happened so I did it again :D now I'm a pear - which still doesn't fit - at least I got a laugh out of it though :d].
Carolyn Smith (Fri, 17 Jun 2011 20:49:41 -0700): Questions aren't specific enough! My body shape is NOT an "apple"!
Melaniee Taylor (Wed, 29 Jun 2011 21:18:02 -0700): this thing told me I'm shaped like a ruler! I feel insulted.
Daniela Borquez (Sun, 03 Jul 2011 19:29:53 -0700): I don't understand why being "pear-shaped", or any shape for that matter, means that you have to find a way to make it less noticable, as described in the last paagraph. I want to learn how to flaunt it, not hide it.
Kristen Dawn Starr (Sun, 26 Feb 2012 23:38:00 -0800): true or you can just dress the way you like and it shouldn't matter if people don't like it or think it is flattering or fashionable as long as you like the way you dress thats all that should matter any way. :)
Jody O'Dell (Wed, 19 Oct 2011 22:39:09 -0700): I hate my shape. I'm a medium build, but I have a large breasts. Which makes my body frame look larger than it is. I'd love to have them reduced a few sizes , but who has an extra two grand hanging around?
Kim Ferrari (Thu, 20 Oct 2011 03:24:05 -0700): Hmm... I don't see anything for "Shaped-Like-a-Marshmallow-With-a-Few-Strings-Tied-Too-Tightly-Around-in-Strategic-Places"...
Stacy Steffens Box (Thu, 20 Oct 2011 09:15:29 -0700): The picture that they showed of me in the end was DEAD WRONG. I am a little overweight, but about 10-15 pounds, not 50-75 like the picture. Stupid quiz!
Casey Oliva (Tue, 22 Nov 2011 14:24:47 -0800): A ruler? Seriously? Tell that to my pooch -.-
Amy Ivy (Wed, 21 Dec 2011 01:36:26 -0800): I don't want my hour glass figure! trust me being 14 and having large breasts and hips is not good...
Kristen Dawn Starr (Sun, 26 Feb 2012 23:39:56 -0800): if you don't like the way you look than change it and if you can't just accept the way God made you or don't, up to you.
Joselyn Madrigal (Sat, 21 Jan 2012 20:33:35 -0800): Apple.... I'm round? No I'm really skinny, I'm not round
Kristen Dawn Starr (Sun, 26 Feb 2012 23:47:03 -0800): well I don't know if I look like a pear shaped cuz all my sisters say I'm shaped like a classic coke bottle and even my mom say's that but thank's for the quiz, plus I think they both look the same but maybe they should use that one instead, lol, it helped but I already know how to dress and what close will flatter and not flatter and what is fashionable and not I just took it cuz I was bored, lol, the quiz is great but maybe people see themselves differently and maybe they should just ask a friend to help them or ask a family member to help answer the questions and see what different results you get and maybe it will turn out better for you.
Kelli Rose Rangel (Tue, 10 Apr 2012 11:32:27 -0700): so um yeah , I'm not apple shape. I did this for fun , and I am just imagining all of the people who believe this lol.
Tiffany Shackelford (Wed, 25 Apr 2012 09:06:02 -0700): what you want to look like has nothing to do with what you do look like for one. two the best way to figure out your body type is to take your measurements, move the decimal over one so it's #.# and then draw it on a paper from the edge. place the fruit centered on the edge and match. it calls me a pear at the sizes of 37-22-32 I may be a bottom heavy hour glass and small c cups, but I still got to much on top to be a pear.
Barbara L. Wells (Sun, 29 Apr 2012 14:37:56 -0700): Shackelford? You would not be great great grandaughter to a Dr. Lee Shackelford of Meridian, MS would you? He was a civil war surgeon and died during the yellow fever epidemic 1880s.
Tiffany Shackelford (Sun, 29 Apr 2012 16:39:24 -0700): Barbara L. Wells highly doubt it. but i don't really know to much long term family history. shackelford is actually a pretty common last name. i went to school with one i wasn't related too.
Jennyfer Austin (Wed, 25 Apr 2012 17:12:52 -0700): I don't have a small waist, definitely not a cone. I'm 5' 4" and have 45-38-42 and can't lose in the midsection because I'm already seeing abs.
Mandy Fisher (Thu, 03 May 2012 02:09:12 -0700): A really stupid and pointless thing. What do I wear out? None of that stuff.. How does that tell me what my body shape is. Written by a little girl who hasn't had children and doesn't understand what it's actually like to carry extra weight. >:(
Amal Saif (Tue, 27 Nov 2012 04:19:11 -0800): So true, I am a proud Pear:) loool.
(Sat, 22 Dec 2012 23:00:22 -0800): where's the next button\.
Sam Callahan-Morris (Sun, 30 Dec 2012 10:29:17 -0800): Here's the problem, I'm no where as large as the ladies in this photo!!!! My upper body is not the size of these ladies, nor is my butt and thighs . I'm not plus size. But can't wear other sizes because of my abdomen being so large. This site has proven once again, that I can't find clothes that fit and are flattering.
Emily Crutcher (Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:50:25 -0800): My large butt. My thin waist. My curvy bust. My shapely legs. My flat tummy. I don't have any of these, what the fuck am I supposed to say?
Tommy Wilson (Sat, 16 Feb 2013 12:03:09 -0800): I will teach you a somewhat unusual weight loss strategy that can help you get a flatter belly in under seven days. Email me and find out what’s my secret: tommywilson.wilson@yahoo.com.
(Thu, 07 Mar 2013 08:28:10 -0800): I am 38" 31" 38" and am 5' 8" what shape do you call this.
Bárbara Paula Acosta Pérez (Sun, 17 Mar 2013 09:03:57 -0700): "Like Kim Kardashian and Scarlett Johansson, you are shaped like an hourglass. " Kim Kardashian is a pear.
Eileen Maria Moynihan (Mon, 22 Apr 2013 12:58:44 -0700): Great I'm a ruler
