Do: Pick the right accessories

Accessories by the beach or pool can be tricky: sure, you want to look cute, but a statement necklace just looks weird covered in sand and sunscreen. Roberts and Polk share their picks:

• Sunglasses. Roberts is loving cat eye sunglasses.
• Wide brim hat. Look for one that's linen or straw, it'll be lightweight and keep the sun out of your face.
• Flower for your hair. Cute and totally works with the vacation vibe (you can use a real or fake one).
• Bangles or simple earrings. If you simply must wear jewelry by the pool, these are acceptable, Polk says.
