Taking care of (winter hair) business

Let’s face it; none of these haircuts or styles is going to look good if your hair is a dry, frizzy mess. So let’s use these tips from Pelusi and Cutler to get it into shape, OK?

1. Switch to a moisturizing shampoo during the season of dry air and over-heating.

2. Use conditioner after every shampoo and leave the conditioner on a little longer than you usually do before rinsing, especially if it feels dry. Even just a few extra minutes can make a difference, especially during winter.

3. If you have colored, chemically treated, frizzy or dry hair, use a daily leave-in conditioner. Pelusi recommends Marco Color Anti Frizz Leave-In Conditioner, $35.

4. Do a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. At home, apply leave-in conditioner after the shower, apply a plastic cap and leave it on for at least 30 minutes.

5. Always prep hair with an anti-frizz serum like Redken Real Control Slim Supreme, $13.99 to combat frizz and flyaways that are common due to low humidity in the air.
