Headbands are awesome — they’re way cheaper than jewelry and they can make just as dramatic a statement, as Sara Paxton shows. Plus, they’re incredibly easy to use, here’s how:

1. Decide what you want your finished look to be: a ponytail, bun or just down. Style your hair before putting the headband in. It often helps to tease the hair at your crown a bit so you get some lift behind the headband.



2. Pick a headband that matches your outfit (not the color necessarily, but the style and formality) and make sure it doesn’t pinch your head, that just makes for a cranky partygoer halfway through the night. Slip the headband on over your hair and make any last hair adjustments.
