Makeup for Square Faces Like Jenna Ushkowitz’s: Focus On the Upper Half

With a square face shape, your main feature is your strong jaw. So you’ll want to draw attention upward — toward your eyes and forehead. “A smoky, sparkly eye and a bronzy cheek will guarantee no attention south of your nose,” says Babaian.

Here’s how to get Jenna Ushkowitz’s smoky eyes:

1. Start with a little bit of concealer on your lids. This will help the shadow stick better, says Babaian.

2. Apply the color in two layers. Start with a shimmery purple shadow at the base, keeping it fairly tight to your lash line. Then apply a black shadow slightly on top and above the purple shadow, blending the layers together. For the finishing touch, swipe a shimmery highlighter shadow right underneath your brow bone, says Flor.

3. Don’t forget to curl your lashes and add two coats of mascara. Even if your lashes are on the shorter side, don’t skip this step — it adds lift to your entire eye, says Babaian.
