Extensions in a Ponytail

Extensions in a ponytail -- it's like steroids for your hair, without all those side effects

Extensions in a Ponytail
When you gather long, fine, thin hair into a ponytail, the result is pretty underwhelming. For those who are ever envious of those girls who needed at least two hair elastics to contain their thick ponytail, using extensions in a ponytail seems like the perfect solution to supplement a straggly excuse for a ponytail.

First, you'll need to section off your hair to clip-in the hair extensions in a way that they will be hidden when your hair is up. Clip in your extensions to the middle of your head, with half of your hair above them and half below them. Brush a small layer of hair over them and add more extensions, if desired. If you're planning on a high ponytail, clip them in upside down so that they're running in the right direction. If you're new to the world of hair extensions, read Hair Extensions: the Real Deal to find out more about the types of extensions that will work for you.

After your extensions are all clipped in, simply pull your hair up into a ponytail as you normally would. A messy ponytail works best with extensions, as it makes it easier to cover up the clips, but any ponytail can be altered to work with extensions. Extensions in a ponytail can add volume, length and extra texture. Experiment with different styles to find one that works for you.
