Leona Lewis Long, Funky Hairstyle with Braids and Twists
Leona Lewis' side fishtail, also known as a herringbone braid if you really want to get technical, works best on long hair. Steal her style with tips from Head & Shoulders celebrity stylist Ryan Trygstad: 1. Apply a texturizing product through your hair and brush through, but don't blow dry. You want the braid to look textured and rough without hair getting tangled in your fingers while braiding. 2. Gather a section of hair from the top of one side of the head, and do a loose, simple French braid down towards the bottom of the opposite side of the head. Just pull in a strand of hair from the bottom every time you cross the braid over, don't add any hair from the top. 3. Once you reach the nape of your neck, bring it over one shoulder and split the bottom half of your hair into two halves. Looking in the mirror, take a small section of hair from the outside of the left side and bring it over to the right side. Then bring a small section of hair from the right side, and add it to the left side. 4. Do this all the way down, until you reach the end of your braid, and secure it with a thin elastic. If you have any strands that didn't quite make it into the braid, just let them frame your face -- sexy.
Kate Hudson Chic, Formal Updo
Kate Hudson's hairstyle puts a fun spin on a classic updo. Steal her style with tips from Head & Shoulders celebrity stylist Ryan Trygstad: 1. Apply a smoothing cream and blow dry your hair straight with a paddle brush. 2. Tease the top of your hair to add va-va-voom volume to your look. 3. Gather all of your hair into a loose ponytail and twist it to the side to create an off-balance French twist. Secure the ends with bobby pins, and tug on your twist to cover them. 4. Brush out your bangs so they're wispy, and let them fall over one ear. 5. Set the look with hairspray (mist the back for several seconds for good measure).
Lindsay Lohan Red, Wavy Half Updo
Lindsay Lohan's half updo is a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll, and perfect for wavy or curly hair. To get the look: 1. Work a bit of curling lotion through damp hair and blow dry with a diffuser, scrunching any natural waves to make the most of them. 2. Using a wet comb and some gel, slick hair back on the front and sides, poofing hair up at the crown (you can tease it to get the job done) for a heightened effect. 3. Pin hair in place with bobby pins and set with strong-hold hairspray.
Lindsay Lohan Red Updo for Prom
Lindsay Lohan's classic backswept 'do really showcases the face. What to do: 1. Make sure your complexion is perfect, since there's no hair to hide behind (kidding). Start by backcombing (teasing) dry hair all around the crown. You should look a bit like you've been electrocuted. 2. Using a boar-bristle brush, smooth teased hair back into either a high bun or a French twist and pin into place. (Angle pins up for the best hold.) 3. Mist all over with strong-hold hairspray.
Jessica Simpson Edgy, Blonde Updo
Jessica Simpson's messy look is just what is in order for drinks with the girls. Messify your look with these tips: 1. Using a large-barrel round brush, blow dry hair. 2. Create a loose French twist by pulling hair toward the nape of your neck, twisting counter clockwise, pulling ends toward the ceiling and using bobby pins to secure in place. Don't worry about loose ends or flyaways -- the messier the better, we say. 3. Pull a few face-framing pieces free along with a few from the top for that extra-messy feel. 4. Finish with shine spray all over.
