Leona Lewis Long, Funky Hairstyle with Braids and Twists
Leona Lewis' side fishtail, also known as a herringbone braid if you really want to get technical, works best on long hair. Steal her style with tips from Head & Shoulders celebrity stylist Ryan Trygstad: 1. Apply a texturizing product through your hair and brush through, but don't blow dry. You want the braid to look textured and rough without hair getting tangled in your fingers while braiding. 2. Gather a section of hair from the top of one side of the head, and do a loose, simple French braid down towards the bottom of the opposite side of the head. Just pull in a strand of hair from the bottom every time you cross the braid over, don't add any hair from the top. 3. Once you reach the nape of your neck, bring it over one shoulder and split the bottom half of your hair into two halves. Looking in the mirror, take a small section of hair from the outside of the left side and bring it over to the right side. Then bring a small section of hair from the right side, and add it to the left side. 4. Do this all the way down, until you reach the end of your braid, and secure it with a thin elastic. If you have any strands that didn't quite make it into the braid, just let them frame your face -- sexy.
Lindsay Lohan Red, Wavy Half Updo
Lindsay Lohan's half updo is a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll, and perfect for wavy or curly hair. To get the look: 1. Work a bit of curling lotion through damp hair and blow dry with a diffuser, scrunching any natural waves to make the most of them. 2. Using a wet comb and some gel, slick hair back on the front and sides, poofing hair up at the crown (you can tease it to get the job done) for a heightened effect. 3. Pin hair in place with bobby pins and set with strong-hold hairspray.
Kim Kardashian Half Updo for Prom
Kim Kardashian's long half updo hairstyle is fierce for straight hair and will stay put through hours of dancing. Steal her style: 1. Start by sectioning off hair into two parts: the top half of your head in a horseshoe shape and the bottom half, which you will leave alone for now. 2. Apply an ample amount of strong hold gel or molding cream to your horseshoe shape and tease the hair, starting at the back of your head and working your way forwards until you reach the inch before your forehead. 3. With fine tooth comb, brush that remaining inch over your teased section and start sculpting back, spraying with strong hold hairspray as you mold into shape. 4. Slick back the sides of your hair and pin back underneath the ends of the teased section, hiding the bobby pins. 5. Twist a couple large sections from the bottom half of your hair around the barrel of a curling iron. Spray with hairspray as needed. See More Kim Kardashian Hairstyles
Jessica Simpson Edgy, Blonde Updo
Jessica Simpson's messy look is just what is in order for drinks with the girls. Messify your look with these tips: 1. Using a large-barrel round brush, blow dry hair. 2. Create a loose French twist by pulling hair toward the nape of your neck, twisting counter clockwise, pulling ends toward the ceiling and using bobby pins to secure in place. Don't worry about loose ends or flyaways -- the messier the better, we say. 3. Pull a few face-framing pieces free along with a few from the top for that extra-messy feel. 4. Finish with shine spray all over.
