Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of your favorite show? We got the scoop from top makeup artists on shows like "Modern Family" and "Community"
I know, it might seem obvious, but you wouldn't believe all the creative ways makeup artists use concealer: to hide dark circles, tone down redness, and even cover up tattoos.
And, as every girl already knows, concealer is especially helpful when it comes to covering pimples. (Warning: gross fact ahead.) Sometimes if an actor has a raised pimple, the makeup artist has her pop it first -- with clean hands, of course. Then "we just apply a concealer with salicylic acid to cover the redness," says Massie. Try Neutrogena SkinClearing Blemish Concealer, $8.
It's also the makeup artist's job to watch and make sure the concealer doesn't get too cakey, since it tends to pile up throughout the day. The solution? Just dip a sponge into water (they love the BeautyBlender Sponge, $19.95) and blend the product to thin it out without fully removing it.
