You'll be shocked to discover which everyday products can give you sun protection, but do they really work?
Our verdict: Kinda worth buying
Why: The reason most women get frequent manicures is because they make your hands look pretty (duh). But they can also help prevent exposure to UV rays that can turn your nails yellow, because the sun can't penetrate through the polish to reach your nail. That's why "nail polish by itself is a good sun blocker even without SPF in it," says Danesh. Betcha didn't know that.
You can also buy a base or top coat with UV protection built in (which not all salons carry), and bring it with you to your appointment. And your manicure will protect your nails for as long as the polish is on. So when it starts chipping, it might be time to re-apply. As if we needed another excuse to get our nails done ...
