Try it at home: We’re guessing you already know how to make a ponytail, it doesn’t get more basic than that. But here are a few tips you can use to take your ponytail to the next level.

1. Hide your elastic by wrapping a section of hair from your pony around it, then pin the ends underneath.

2. Tease your hair before putting it into the ponytail to get extra volume on top.

3. Curl the ends of your ponytail — or straighten them — to add texture.

4. Pull out a few wisps to frame your face for a messier, romantic look.
