Get Mod: ’60s Style

If I could go back in time and transport myself to one decade, it would be the 1960s. Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone and Starbucks, but I would give it all up for a chance to see the Beatles in concert while dressed in a mini shift dress, knee-high boots, and my hair styled in a high bouffant. I just think there’s something so chic about the ’60s.

Case in point: Twiggy, Brigitte Bardot, Jackie O. These style icons of the 1960s always looked perfectly pretty and pulled together. And it was during this time that one of the biggest fashion subcultures emerged. The mod (short for “modernist”) movement started in London in the early ’60s and quickly spread to the states. Mod fashion was all about bright colors, beehive hairstyles, and of course … the mini skirt.
