Accessories can make or break your look

Both Roberts and Kasch like colored jewels like emeralds instead of diamonds this year (obviously you can go the faux-route). Try wearing a bold earring with your strapless dress (skip the necklace). If your dress already has a lot of embellishments then keep your jewelry small and simple so it doesn’t look gaudy, Roberts says.

Try a feathery or metallic bag, both big trends, Kasch says, or pick a bag in a contrasting color to your dress. Either way, color is in, so forget that boring black clutch.

For your shoes, you can try a wedge or platform heel to give you height a little more comfortably, or Kasch suggests wearing flats, “a great choice if you are taller than your date.” If your dress is floor length you might as well go for comfort, your shoes won’t be seen much anyway.
