Kristen Day 1: Heat Styling

The goal with this look was to smooth my waves into a sleek, beachy texture. I picked up this technique from stylist Natalie Paz at the Argyle Salon & Spa in West Hollywood, Calif. I started by smoothing Rene Furterer Anti-Dehydrating Volumizing Mousse, $23 through wet hair and rough drying it until it was fully dry. Then I used two curling irons to create the texture — a one and one-quarter-inch iron and a one-inch iron. I curled my whole head with the larger iron and then hit just a few random strands all over with the smaller iron to make the curls less uniform. Before curling each section I misted my hair with Davines No. 7 Crystal Fixative Lacquer, $23 to make the look last for days. I love how my hair looks here and if I had the time, I would do this every couple of days. But alas, I don’t, so I often sport the “product only” waves, which I think are an OK look too.
