Hair Dare: Heat Styling Ban

Jane natural hair

Jane Day 3: Products, but still no heat

I spritzed my wet hair all over with Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Hairspray, $3.74. I then braided it, and once my hair was dry I took out the braids and finger-combed through the waves. I finished by running a small dab of Tresemme Anti-Frizz Smoothing Creme, $5.99 over the waves to tame the frizz. At the last minute, I decided to pin up my bangs to add some volume to my hair.

My hair is thick, so it becomes wavy and frizzy when I let it dry naturally. After I used the hairspray, my hair had more texture and volume, and the waves became more defined. They were still a bit frizzy, and using an anti-frizz product made a huge difference in the way I felt about my hair.

I always dislike the way my hair looks when I let it dry naturally, and I never really take the time to see what I can do with my natural hair texture (I’m a bit dependent on my blow dryer and flat iron). So I was really surprised when I saw that my thick, frizzy hair actually turns into natural-looking waves with just a little bit of product. It’s nice to know I can skip the heat styling (and avoid damaging my hair even more) and still look decent. I’ll definitely be trying out this style more often.
