Look 8 in real life

Her thoughts: Doing this look was actually pretty easy, though creating the curls was time consuming. Here’s how I did it:

For my hair:

1. I applied blowPro Body by Blow Mousse, $44.95 on wet hair from roots to ends.

2. Then I roughly blow dried my hair using my fingers to create added volume and prep hair for curling.

3. Using a 3/4-inch curling iron I curled one-inch sections of hair all over. I spritzed each section with hairspray before curling for hold and only wrapped hair up to eye height, since I wanted the roots to remain straight.

4. Once the curls were cool, I finger combed them out and teased them a bit just with my fingertips to get a poufy finish. I finished with more hairspray.

For my makeup:

1. I started by evening out my skin tone and concealing dark circles and spots with foundation and concealer.

2. I applied a soft silver shadow on top lids blending it well for a subtle wash of color.

3. I applied mascara to just the base of my top lashes for a more natural finish

4. I applied Chanel Moisturizing Bronzing Powder, $50 on my cheekbones.

5. I swept on a generous amount of bright coral blush, I used Make Up For Ever Sculpting Blush in No. 20, $24, from my cheekbones up to my temples. And blended it well into my hairline.

6. I dabbed a bit of highlighting cream on the apples of my cheeks to make them glow.

7. I finished by slicking on a pinky coral gloss.

I would definitely wear this curly hair look again — it got rave reviews from a colleague and my husband. The makeup not so much — though I could easily apply the coral blush in a more normal fashion and it would look soft, sunny and perfect for spring.

When my husband first saw me from afar he said “ooh you look pretty,” but then as he got closer he noticed the crazy blush and said “wow, that’s interesting.” Colleagues reacted by saying, “I love the curls, you should wear your hair like that every day,” and “you look sunburned,” or “like someone hit you.” Gotta love the honesty.
