Look 3 in real life

Worn by: Tracy, Social Media Coordinator

Her thoughts: Overall this look took longer to do than my every day look, but not that long (probably 25 minutes total). The hair took much longer than my makeup.

For my hair:

1. I wanted to have a nice full bun, so I used a tool called the doughnut that basically looks like a big scrunchy. You tie your hair in a ponytail and then slide the doughnut through your hair so it’s sitting on top of the base of your ponytail.

2. After that you begin to take pieces of your hair and wrap them around the doughnut so that the doughnut is completely covered by hair. I used bobby pins to hold my hair in place and a TON of hairspray. Towards the end my hands were getting tired so I sort of just grabbed my hair and shoved it underneath the doughnut, but it still looked good. That took me about 15 minutes to do.

3. I also have bangs so I needed to slick my bangs to the side and use bobby pins to pin them back. I used John Masters Organic Bourbon Vanilla and Tangerine Hair Texturizer, $19.99 to slick my bangs back, get rid of any flyaways and get that polished, sleek look.

My makeup wasn’t that different than my normal routine, except that it was MORE than I normally wear.

1. I used my regular foundation (Korres Wild Rose SPF 20, $30) and concealer (W3LL People Narcissist, $38) underneath my eyes and on my eye lids.

2. I used Revolution Organics Beauty Balm in Sun-kissed, $34 to give me an apricot/tan look on the apples of my cheeks.

3. I heavily brushed W3LL People Mineral Bronzer, $23 all over my checks, on my neck and around the contours of my face.

4. After I let that set, I added MAC Strobe Liquid, $29.50 on the apples of my cheeks and below my brows (not on my lids).

5. For the dark eye makeup look, I used Physicians Formula Organic Wear Eyeliner in Black, $8 and basically covered my entire lids and my upper and lower inner rims as well.

6. I topped my lids off with Tarte Eye Couture Shadow in Charcoal, $44 (for the palette) and blended the two together.

7. I finished by curling my eyelashes and using Mineral Fusion Lengthening Mascara, $15.

8. For my lips I used a simple light pink clear gloss, Yes to Carrots C Me Shine Lipgloss, $6.49.

I would wear this look out again at night. The eye makeup seemed a bit heavy for daytime, especially for work. I really liked how my hair turned out using the doughnut too, though I would do a higher bun next time. I have a hard time wearing that much makeup though. I like wearing makeup, but don’t like to look like I’m wearing makeup.

I had drinks with friends after work and a few commented on how full my bun was and how I looked nice. I pulled my best friend aside and she said that I looked more sophisticated and refined (apparently I used to be a bit of a bum).
