Tip no. 5: Get people whispering about your suit — in a good way

The best way to make sure your swimsuit is one-of-a-kind is to mix and match two different pieces. “It’s a great way to wear any older bikinis that may be in the back of your drawer,” says fashion editor Stephanie Rygorsky. “To make the look more mainstream, just look for pieces that have a similar color theme.”

Another huge trend is to wear an all-white piece. “Most people are worried about white suits being too see-through, but if you buy a good quality swimsuit you don’t need to worry about showing too much,” says New York City fashion stylist Leila Wolford. Not a fan of white? Try something in a pastel shade — it’ll definitely make your tan stand out.

Stylists are also crazy about the “tomboy look,” says New York City fashion stylists Shanna & Elissa. “A great way to pull off this look is to tie a button-down shirt right below your belly button. Then put on a pair of your boyfriend’s swim trunks, roll up the bottom hem, and you’ve got your chic tomboy look.”
