Eyes:
Step 1: Shade lids with a matte bone highlighter (on brow bone) and a neutral beige shadow. We like the ones in Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad in Canyon Classics, $6.79.
Step 2: Use a good-quality black liquid liner to trace your upper and lower lids from corner to corner. We’re digging Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner, $32; it’s pretty darn foolproof, even for klutzes like us. Make the line get slightly wider toward your outer eye corner.
Step 3: Use the liquid liner to draw another line along your crease, from your inner eye corner to your outer corner. This time, end the line in a smooth curve up at a near-45-degree angle (try to avoid “turning” into a harsh angle a la Amy Winehouse). This might take a little practice but you should get a cute little cat-eye point. Fill in the space between your lash line and crease with long, fluid strokes.
Step 4: Rim your inner lids, or waterline, with liner if you haven’t done so already. Apply mascara. Lightly set with translucent powder to prevent smudging.
