Day 14: The peacock
Getting ready to go out for drinks, I was positively infected by the La Roux song, “Bulletproof.” Since I’d tried blues already, I thought I’d veer toward greens tonight. It was going to be dark at the bar we were going to, so the brighter, the better! I started off with a clean canvas, thanks to CoverGirl Simply Ageless Foundation, $13.99. Then I generously lined both eyes all the way around with a deep teal, waterproof liner by N.Y.C., $4. I went over that with vivid teal shadow on the outer corners, emerald shadow near the lash line, and lime green on the inner corners, then used a dampened shadow brush to blend it all together. (Stila Eye Shadow Trios, $19, in Afterhours and Going Green would be fantastic for this.) On the brow bone, I used a neutral peach shadow.
To give the whole gradient that shiny, peacock effect, I lightly blended iridescent brown L’Oreal HiP Shocking Shadow Pigment in Intrepid, $12 (the sparkles picked up on the colors) over the greens. For an extra pop of color, I used a sheer orange, shimmery lipstick (Chanel Aqualumiere in Palma, $28.50). I think this one’s my new favorite look.
