10 Tips I Learned at Makeup School

Tip No. 4: “Re-load” your eyeliner halfway

When applying eyeliner, you usually start from the inner corner of the eye and drag the line all the way to the outer corner, right? Well, I found out this is what causes your liner to look uneven. “You get bumps in your line with your brush [or pencil] catching on loose skin,” says Napoleon Perdis makeup school instructor Rebecca Prior.

Instead of straight shooting your liner, break it up into two motions. Go from the inner corner to the center of your lid, and stop there. Then lift your pencil (or reload your brush, if you’re using one) and draw another line starting from the outside corner until you meet the existing liner at the center, says Prior.
