dreamy romantic makeup look

Go for dreamy makeup

Ellis wanted to use a soft, dreamy palette for Joanna’s date night look. Not only would this match her blush-colored outfit, but it would also add extra romance to Joanna’s whole ensemble. Here’s how to get Joanna’s makeup look:

Face: Start with a cream-based foundation. If you can’t find an exact shade or don’t like the consistency of your foundation, Ellis recommends mixing a few products together until you create the right shade and feel. Then, apply a bronzer like Sephora’s Bora Bora Bronzer, $15, to the cheekbones, forehead, nose, and chin — places where the sun would naturally hit the face — and a cream blush on the cheeks.

Eyes: Sweep a soft gold eyeshadow from lids to brow. Next, layer a golden brown shadow onto the lid and blend in a tiny bit of black shadow at the corner of the eye right by the lash line to create some drama. Ellis used MAC Woodwinked, $14.50, and MAC Beauty Marked Velvet, $14.50.

For eyeliner, focus on creating a clean line. (Try Jane Be Pure Mineral Gel Eyeliner, $6.) Finish eyes by applying a coat of mascara to the lashes, then curl them with a heated curling iron, which Ellis says “reactivates the mascara,” and finish with a final coat of mascara.

Lips: Line lips with a nude lip liner. Then, apply a little touch of color from a berry colored lipstick. Ellis recommends Ecco Bella FlowerColor Lipstick, $15.95. Finish with a tinted gloss.
