Easy Long Hair Updos

Updos are glamorous, elegant, sophisticated, and…time-consuming. Not to mention, costly, if they’re done by a professional. The good news is that they don’t have to be. These easy long hair updos will only cost you a little time and patience.

Faux Bob

Want to trick people into thinking you cut off all your long hair? Try a faux bob. After curling your hair into loose waves, pull it into a loose ponytail at the nape of your neck. Flip the pony tail underneath and pin the ends. Pull out a few tendrils (this works best with layered hair) and create a bob shape. Voila! You’ve shed inches off without breaking out the shears.

Side Part Ponytail

Create a deep side part and twist both sections of your hair around, pinning them just below the crown of your head. Gather all of your hair into a mid-level ponytail, curling the end of the ponytail for extra volume and bounce. For more twists on the standard ponytail, try these 12 ponytail alternatives.

Retro Chignon

“Chignon” is just a French term for bun, so don’t be intimidated by the fancy language. This looks requires lots of volume on top, so start teasing at the top of your hair. Smooth the top half of your hair back into a low pony. Create a second pony with the lower half of your hair, teasing this one for your chignon’s shape. Smooth the top pony over the teased second, combining the two and rolling them under at the nape of your neck. Secure with bobby pins.
