Simple Hair Updos

If you’re like me, you have two hairstyles: The go-to is not doing anything to my hair and just letting it hang (and I’m not sure that I can classify that as a hairstyle), and my back up is throwing it into a messy bun, that I’m hoping looks artfully arranged and intentionally sloppy. However, I’ve realized that I do have other options that take the same amount of time, and result in me looking as though I’ve put a lot more effort into my hair. These two simple hair updos will make you look a lot more put together than your current style.

Mermaid Tail Braid

Pull your hair to the side and divide it into two equal sections. Braid both into a dutch braid, which simply means you’re crossing the outside section behind the middle section, instead of in front. This will ensure a seamless effect. Pull the braids apart a little to create two fatter braids. Pin the two braids together to create one big braid. You can combine the hair elastics to wrap around both braids. This is a fun way to update the traditional braid.

Braided Top Bun

With this hairdo, you’ll feel like a princess wearing a crown of braids on your head. Begin by gathering your hair into a high, high ponytail on top of your head, and get it past the crown if you can. Braid the pony and secure with an elastic. Begin winding your hair into a bun, but don’t make it tight. To avoid looking too ballerina, leave an open circle in the middle. Tuck the tail of the braid under the circle you’ve created, and secure your bun with bobby pins.

With these simple hair updos, no one will know your hairstyle only took you two minutes.
