Besides bright, bold lips, color eyeliner is another big summer trend. (Forget bad ’80s makeup, this look is entirely new and waaaay better.) Nemes is a big fan of this makeup trend since “a little color eyeliner goes a long way.”

So which colors exactly? Nemes advises that you should pick a color that is the opposite of your skin tone and eye color. Here’s her little cheat sheet: Blondes should try plums, brunettes should head for royal blue or indigos, and red heads should look into the greens.

Two eyeliners Nemes recommends are Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Indigo, $20, as well as Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Antique Jade, $19.

If you’re a little timid about trying this trend, Nemes suggests only lining the base of your lashes, while the more adventurous should line the inside of the eye along with the base.
