Day 9: Banana nails

This look was actually inspired by this Top Shop Banana Dress we fell in love with. We thought it would be cheaper to try out the design on our nails than to buy the actual dress — and we’re so glad we did.

What we used:

Np2 Nail Lacquer in Solar, $23

Milani Nail Art Lacquer with Precision Brush in Yellow Design, $3.99

Milani Nail Art Lacquer with Precision Brush in Black Sketch, $3.99

Sparitual True Bond Topcoat, $15

How we got the look:

Step 1. Anna started by painting my nails a warm, orange-red shade. She applied several coats for a clean, opaque finish.

Step 2. Once the base was dry, she painted long splotches of yellow on my nails. (If they don’t really look like bananas, don’t worry — the black lines will change that.)

Step 3. Then, Anna sketched around each banana using a fine-tipped brush dipped in black polish. She also added a few lines of black inside each banana for a more cartoon-y feel.

Step 4. Anna finished with a clear topcoat to seal the look.
