Yves St. Laurent
Say it like this: eve-san-laur-ahnt
Yves St. Laurent was a French fashion designer who created such iconic trends as the beatnik look, safari jackets, thigh-high boots, and the classic tuxedo suit for women. More importantly, he was the first fashion couturier to come out with a full ready-to-wear line, making high fashion accessible to the masses (well, some of the masses, we still can’t afford it). His name is a bit of a mouthful, but here’s a little trick: If you can’t pronounce Yves St. Laurent, you can always call it YSL.
