Shiseido
Say it like this: sheh-say-do.
Shiseido was founded in 1872 by a pharmacist named Arinobu Fukuhara. His first beauty product was a softening lotion called Eudermine, $54, which was originally developed to counteract white lead poisoning, (lead was a popular ingredient in Japanese makeup). Though the lead aspect may have changed over the decades, Eudermine is still an all-time favorite and sold at Shiseido counters today.
