Dare: 7 Days of Short Hairstyles

short hair finger waves

Day 7: Feeling like Ginger Rogers

After the success of yesterday’s look, I’m feeling pretty confident on the last day of the dare. I’ve always wanted to wear finger waves (they’re so classy), but I never had the guts to try ’em. But with all of the practice I’ve gotten this week, I feel like it’s something I can do now.

1. I apply a ton of gel to my hair until it’s wet. Starting with the hair near my part, I pull my hair back toward my ear, and place one finger over a section of hair.

2. Then I pull the surrounding hair forward over my finger to create a wave pattern. I pin this section into place to set the wave, and I do this three more times to get more finger waves.

3. Once my hair dries, I take out the pins and spray the finger waves generously with strong-hold hairspray to keep them in place.

Now that my week-long dare is over, I’m able to look back on my first hairstyle and see the progress I’ve made (click here to see for yourself). Short hair can be just as versatile as long hair, and no matter the style I’m still out the door in under 10 minutes.
