From Laura Ingalls to Princess Leia to Lauren Conrad, the braid is a traditional hairstyle that is always trending. Try out these two crown-inspired girls’ braided hairstyles for a fresh, classic look.
The first of these girls’ braided hairstyles only requires one braid total. Start with dry hair, parted as you normally do. Begin a French braid on the heavier side of the part, tucking the hair under instead of over as you normally do. If you find French braids challenging, only take hair from the bottom, rather than the bottom and the top. When your braid reaches the back of the ear, continue on a path across to the back of the head, leaving half of the hair down. Continue braiding until you reach the end of the tail. Tie off with an elastic and tuck the tail behind the braid, securing with bobby pins.
The next crown braid hairstyle uses two braids and has a more boho-chic vibe. Start by parting your hair down the middle and gathering a section on one side of your face. Leave some hair down in the front to soften and frame your face. Braid the section and tie it off, doing the same on the other side. Wrap the braid around the back of your head, staying pretty close to your neck for a low loop. Pin it in place and do the same on the other side. The braids should criss-cross in the middle. Tuck the ends in for a seamless look.
