Kick-ass curls
Pump up the volume like Underwood did with a diffuser. Here’s what to do:
Step 1: Apply curl-boosting mousse from roots to ends. (Try L’Oreal Upward Spiral Springing Curls Curl Defining Mousse, $4.99.) If you don’t have natural waves, first liberally spray hair with a salt spray, (like KMS California Hair Play Sea Salt Spray, $14) then apply mousse on top.
Step 2: Blow dry using a diffuser attachment, gently scrunching hair with your hands. “Stopping when it’s 80 percent dry helps reduce frizziness,” Hawkins says.
Step 3: When it’s dry, toss your hair over and shake it at the roots with your fingers, and scrunch lightly where needed.
