Step 1: Use only your fingers (that’s how you get the piece-y look) and pull your hair into a pony right at the back of your head. Aim for eye-level. “It sits a little high this way, and that’s how you get a cascading tail,” Hawkins says.
Step 2: Use your fingers to loosen the hair on your scalp-side of the pony and “expand” the volume. Allow a few pieces to fall out for softness.
