Fight the frizz

Are you constantly battling static or frizz? Fitzsimons says a lack of moisture is to blame. To fix it, he suggests using a deep conditioning treatment once every two weeks. To do it right:

1. Use a salon-quality treatment (we like Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat, $18.50) and apply it to damp, just shampooed hair.

2. Comb the product through your hair with a wide-tooth comb.

3. Apply a shower cap over your hair to keep the heat in and leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes.

4. Rinse your hair with cool water to close your hair cuticle and seal the conditioner in.

If you need more help in between treatments, Fitzsimons recommends Kerastase Serum Oleo-Relax, $34. It controls frizz and adds shine, but he warns you should use it sparingly since it can be heavy.
