Rainy Day Fashion: Look Good, Stay Dry

Rainy Day Hair

Rainy days don’t have to equal bad hair days. The trick is picking a style that works with the rain. I spoke with Janine Jarman, owner of Hairroin Salon in Hollywood, Calif. about the perfect rainy day look. Her favorite? A disheveled knotted bun. Here’s how to get the style:

1. Pull your hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck and secure with an elastic.

2. Divide your ponytail into two sections, and tie the sections into a loose knot. Continue knotting your hair until you reach the end of your ponytail.

3. Wrap the knotted section around the base of your pony, creating a bun shape, and use a bobby pin to secure the bun to your head.

4. Spritz with a lightweight hairspray.

If your hair isn’t long enough for a full bun, Jarman says to try a side braid. This way, whether your hair is wet or dry it’ll still look the same. And if it does get wet, once you take your braid out, you’ll be left with a nice wavy texture.
