Controlled curls
A signature Underwood ‘do: Smooth top plus natural curls. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Apply curl-enhancing mousse (like L’Oreal Upward Spiral Springing Curls Curl Defining Mousse, $4.99.) from roots to ends.
Step 2: Blow dry with a diffuser ’til it’s 80 percent dry.
Step 3: Use a 1.5-inch round brush to blow dry the top smooth and brush long bangs to the side. Allow the hair in the back and the ends to air dry naturally. (If the curls just aren’t forming, fake it with a curling iron.)
Step 4: Sweep hair to the side and clip in place. Be careful not to pull hair too tightly, it should be soft.
