Katy Perry never has a dull hair moment. (Just check out all her hairstyles here.) So of course, she didn’t go for any boring old bob. Celebrity hairstylist Ange Todorov reveals how to get Perry’s funky look:

1. Apply a smoothing cream (if your hair is thicker) or texturizing cream (if your hair is fine) to wet hair. Side part your hair.

2. Blow dry your hair with a round brush until it’s completely dry and smooth.

3. Using a 1 1/2-inch curling iron, curl front pieces of hair away from the face. (Todorov says this helps create movement in the hair.

4. Pin back the side with less hair with a bobby pin or other fun accessory.
